LABORATORY OF PLANT PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

The  team  conducts research  in plant physiology, plant biochemistry and plant metabolism, with emphasis on  the organication of inorganic nitrogen and symbiontic relationships between fungus and plant.

The objectives of these activities are the study and determination of:

The radical mycorrhization index of graminaceous and horticultural plants by strains species  such as Glomus mosseae, Glomus intraradices and Glomus coronatum.

Enzymatic activities involved in nitrogen metabolism such as: Nitrate reductase and Glutamine synthetase.

Amino acid composition, oxidized and reduced form of  pyridine nucleotides content such as: NAD(P) and NAD(P)H and phosphate nucleosides such as ATP, ADP and AMP, in leaves and roots.

Photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids.

micro and macro elements in leaf and root and  soil-plant   relationship.

Study and determination of the effects of nitrogen and phosphorus on vegetative growth and fruits production of mycorrhizal plants both in the growth chamber and in field.
